KATHMANDU, Sept 26: Chaur Futsal made a winning start to the Red Bull Futsal League that began on Monday in the capital.
In the match held at Bansbari, Chaur defeated Dhuku Futsal Hub, Mahargunj 3-2. Ranjit Shrestha scored a brace for the winning side while Ramesh Gurung added another goal.
Sabin KC and Suraj Raut scored one each for Dhuku.
Meanwhile, Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF) overcame organizer AMA Events 11-3 in a friendly match that was held before the tournament kicked off.
Former captains of Nepali national football team Upendra Man Singh, Rakesh Shrestha, Hari Khadka, Balgopal Maharjan jointly inaugurated the tournament which carries highest cash prize in futsal tournament organized in the country so far.
Altogether 16 teams are vying in the event with reward of Rs 1 million, out of which the winner and runner-up will take home half of the amount.
