CHITWAN, May 13: People have been found to be using chits to cast their votes in Bharatpur. At a polling center in Krishnapur of Bharatpur, the ruling coalition parties have been found to have given chits to voters to cast their votes.
A female polling official seized a chit from a person who was coming out after casting his vote. According to the Election Commission, no kinds of chits can be taken at the polling station. People apart from those with physical disabilities and senior citizens, have to cast their votes themselves. However, there are people who went to the polling center and cast their votes as per the chits they had been given.

Mayoral candidate Jagannath Poudel from the independent cluster said that the ruling coalition has abused state power to disrupt the election. "In a democracy, going to the polls with a chit is a violation of the election code of conduct.
He said that the result that comes out of it will not be accepted by the people of Chitwan. Referring to NC district President Rajeshwar Khanal, he said that a person who distributes such chits at night is not a democrat.
Khanal was caught distributing the lists made by the coalition to secure their votes at 1PM from Bharatpur Metropolis-13. Security personnel have turned away people who were found carrying any kind of ballot sample.
CPN (Maosit Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s daughter Renu Dahal is a mayoral candidate for Bharatpur Metropolis under the five-party alliance. Similarly, Bijay Subedi is the mayoral candidate from the CPN-UML, while Poudel has nominated himself from the independent cluster. A total of 27 people have filed their candidacy for the post of mayor of the metropolis.
