KATHMANDU, Oct 27: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Friday filed corruption cases against 25 officials of the Department of Foreign Employment on the charge of sending women to Gulf countries by forging documents upon the request of recruiting agencies.
They have been accused of sending 184 women to labor destinations using forged documents. The CIAA started investigation into the matter following the complaints against the government officials. The anti-graft body confiscated the labor permits issued between August 25 to October 25 last year for further investigation.

While going through the documents, the CIAA officials found that the section officers working at the Department of Foreign Employment including Hari Prasad Devkota, Deepak Kumar Acharya, Ganesh Bikram Shah, Dinesh Kumar Rai, Pabitra Shrestha and Ram Prasad Oli were found involved in producing forged documents. Other non-gazetted officers Amar Raj Joshi, Bishnu Hari Niraula, Dil Bahadur Khatri, Hem Raj Pandey, Karna Bahadur Nepali, Kedar Ghimire, Madan Giri, Khagendra Pokharel, Laxmi Devi Bhusal, Nagendra Prasad Gautam, Rabingra Ghimire, Raghunath KC among others were found assisting in producing the forged documents.
The forged documents, according to CIAA officials, were prepared to send Nepali women to work as housemaids in Gulf countries after the government banned recruiting agencies to send women as housemaids.
