KATHMANDU, Nov 24: The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority on Sunday filed cases against 38 government employees including three under secretaries for their alleged irregularities in issuing driving licenses to 1284 persons in 2012.
The anti-graft body filed charge-sheets at the Special Court against the serving and retired government officials including then chief of Transport Management Office, Ekantakuna, Ananda Keshari Pokharel, Under Secretary Dharma Raj Dhungana and Under Secretary Babu Lal Regmi.

Others officials who are accused of being involved into corruption while issuing driving licenses include Nepal Police DSP Nawaraj Thapa, section officer Ram Mani Pokharel (now retired), section officer Ishwar Raj Regmi (now suspended), section officer Shambhu Prasad Thapaliya.
The CIAA has accused those government employees of taking bribes while issuing driving licenses to 1284 aspiring drivers though they had failed to pass the driving tests held in April, May and June in 2012.
The government officials are accused of incurring losses to the state by not collecting the revenues while issuing the driving licenses to the aspiring drivers.
While registering the graft case at the Special Court, the CIAA has sought separate amount of fines on the accused in line with the prevailing anti-graft laws.
