CIAA seeks smooth delivery of public services during festivals

KATHMANDU, Sept 24: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has directed the government bodies to ensure smooth public service delivery during the festivals.

KATHMANDU, Sept 24: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has directed the government bodies to ensure smooth public service delivery during the festivals. 



The CIAA summoned the government secretaries and representatives from different consumer-focused organizations to instruct them for taking all possible measures so to prevent any untoward inconveniences to the people at the time of festivals which sees vibrant demand side. 



CIAA Chief Deep Basnyat urged the bodies concerned to remain alert and attentive towards the guarantee of reliable peace and security, smooth supply of quality foods, proper management and regular market monitoring during the festival times. 

He insisted on the need of proper management of public vehicles, with putting an end to the risk of passengers being cheated. "There are public complaints that the same ticket has been sold to many passengers, so respond to the complaint immediately," he prodded. 



Commissioners Dr Sabitri Thapa Gurung, Rajnarayan Pathak, Dr Ganesh Raj Joshi and Nabin Ghimire said expected results were not possible until government bodies did not work focusing the public interests. They underlined the need for integrated efforts to see good results. 



Revenue Secretary Sishir Dhungana, Home Secretary Lok Darsan Regmi, Secretary Devendra Karki (Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport), Secretary Maheshwor Neupane ( Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation), and Officiating Secretary Mukunda Poudel ( Ministry of Supplies) were among those present at the meeting.
