KATHMANDU, Jan 1: Former Ambassador to Japan and former Vice-Chancellor of Tribhuvan University Prof Kedar Bhakta Mathema has said that only few people are entertaining the access to the state power. Speaking with Shree Ram Paudel in regular program Nagarik Manch of Radio Nagarik, Mathema showed his concerned over the gradual ignorance of the citizen by the state.
Stating that the contribution and active participation of the people to restore democracy was commendable, nephew of Martyr Dharma Bhakta, former envoy Mathema said that the commercial mentality has overshadowed the concept of simple living and high thinking, which are the assets of oriental viewpoint.

Asserting that the politics can play a vital role for the betterment of the society, Mathema expressed his worries over the current leadership of the country who have shunned the undemanding and simple lifestyle of their predecessors. Sharing his experience during his tenure as envoy to Japan, Mathema said that the parents in Japan teach their children three important things in life- to work on time, not to deceive others and to keep their words.
