A total of 98 lawmakers of the ruling coalition filed a 21-point impeachment motion against Chief Justice Cholendra SJB Rana at the Parliament Secretariat on Sunday. Talking to media persons after the motion was registered; Nepali Congress Whip Pushpa Bhusal said that the impeachment motion was registered as CJ Rana could not play a leading role in the judiciary effectively.
She said that it was necessary to register the motion as the Chief Justice had not made the constitutional bench effective, had affected various appointments, had not implemented the report of the Supreme Court and could not work on the basis of balance of power.
Meanwhile, Law Minister Badu said it was the responsibility of parliament to take statements and move other parliamentary processes forward to prove the allegations.
