But despite his efforts, he has not been able to implement the ban even in his office. The employees are using social media such as Facebook even during the office hours. The step by the chief minister was appreciated even by the public, while some employees opposed the decision.
“The work is delayed as staffers often browse social media,” said Binod Shahi, who was at a ministry for some work. “It was a good decision by the chief minister to ban social media use during office hours. The decision should have been implemented by the government,” he said.
Prajit Damai, a resident of the region, said the staff is often busy browsing social media. “Government employees serve the public only after they are done with browsing social media. Banning social media in government offices during working hours will benefit the public. Government employees should serve the public first. They can browse internet when there is no work,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Office of Chief Minister and Council of Ministers, Karnali has said that the central government has directed to limit the use of social media.
