Cold wave kills eight in Humla

HUMLA, Jan 4: Eight people lost their lives in Humla due to cold wave. Rana Devi Pariyar and Nandakala Pariyar, both 27 and residents of Tajakot rural municipality-5 were the latest who succumbed to cold and fever.

HUMLA, Jan 4: Eight people lost their lives in Humla due to cold wave. Rana Devi Pariyar and Nandakala Pariyar, both 27 and residents of Tajakot rural municipality-5 were the latest who succumbed to cold and fever.  


In the last week of December, six people; Bhyale Karki, 91, Khaire Shahi, 88, Gore Jaishi, 78 and Shanker Rokaya of Sarkegad rural municipality, ward 7 and 8, Rodikot village also lost their lives to cold.

A team of five health workers led by Dr Nabin Rokaya from the Humla District Health Office on Wednesday had reached the affected areas with medicines after the directive from Acting Chief District Officer Riddhi Prakash Sitaula. 


With temperatures dropping below -6 degrees, elderly people have been suffering from continuous cough and throat pain following sharp decline in mercury with snowfall.
