Collective support and contribution needed to stop pandemic: Home Minister Khand

KATHMANDU, July 14: Newly-appointed Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand has assumed his office at the home ministry at Singha Durbar today. He was welcomed by the Secretary of the Ministry of Home affairs, Maheshwar Neupane, Inspector General of Police Sailesh Thapa, Inspector General of Armed Police Force Ganesh Prasad Adhikari and others at his office .

KATHMANDU, July 14: Newly-appointed Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand has assumed his office at the home ministry at Singha Durbar today. He was welcomed by the Secretary of the Ministry of Home affairs, Maheshwar Neupane, Inspector General of Police Sailesh Thapa, Inspector General of Armed Police Force Ganesh Prasad Adhikari and others at his office . 


Talking to media persons after taking office, newly-appointed Home Minister Khand pointed out the need for everyone’s support and contribution to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Everyone must fulfill their responsibilities and take their roles religiously in order to survive the pandemic. Security forces, health workers and media personnel are playing a big role in the prevention and control of COVID-19,” Khand said.


Home Minister Khand said that it is the duty of the government to ensure the safety of every citizen working in the forefront of the COVID-19 response. “The government is committed to managing budget spending and treatment where necessary along with proper coordination to stop the pandemic,” Khand said.


The bodies concerned need to work actively in implementing the laws made in coordination with the executive, legislative, and judiciary in accordance with the constitutional system, he said.


Furthermore, newly-appointed Home Minister Khand approved the file that sanctioned the budget demanded by the District Disaster Management Fund of Nawalparasi (East) district. The Disaster Management Fund is allocated according to the need in all 77 districts of the country. There is currently Rs 1.5 billion in the Central Disaster Management Fund of the government. The District Disaster Management Fund has been providing money to the victims as per the details and the criteria of the damage. Assistance to the victims is provided from this fund as an immediate relief to convey the message that the government stands with the victims and is ready to help them at the time of distress.
