KATHMANDU, Feb 16: A conflict has surfaced within the CPN (Maoist Center) over the nomination of ministers in Province 4, thereby failing to appoint a ministerial candidate.

A meeting of the Maoist Center Parliamentary Party this morning had proposed Hari Bahadur Chuman and Lekh Bahadur Thapamagar as ministers for the Province. However, parliamentary assembly members from Kaski opposed the party’s recommendation.

Kaski PA members demanded that one of the two appointees must be from the PA. As a result, the Maoist Center is yet to recommend a candidate.

Earlier today, Governor Baburam Kunwar had administered the oath of office and secrecy to Chief Minister Prithivi Subba Gurung and Netranath Adhikari, speaker of the province.  Ramsharan Basnet was appointed as the Minister for Industry and Forestry.

Even though the Chief Minister tried to include ministers from the Maoist Center, he couldn’t succeed.

There are 60 members in Provincial Assembly in Province-4.
