KATHMANDU, March 15: Former Vice Chairperson of Nepali Congress Prakash Man Singh on Friday criticized the Oli-led government's move to ban the activities of Chand-led Nepal Communist Party.
Inaugurating the ninth regional convention of the Nepal Telecom Workers Union in the capital, Singh said that the government unilaterally decided to ban the activities of Chand-led party without holding consultation with the major political parties.

"The government itself is working to invite another round of conflict in the country. It should have consulted with the major political parties before making the decision that directly impacts on the national security. But the government kept even some of the ruling party leaders in dark," Singh said.
The NC leader was of the view that the government should hold dialogue with the Chand-led party to find out proper solution on the issue. "Putting the ban on Chand-led party is not only a solution," he argued.
Meanwhile, Singh claimed that the government breached the constitution by signing an 11-point deal with secessionist campaigner CK Raut.
"Why the government is silent even though CK Raut is claiming that the government was agreed with him to hold referendum on the Madhes issue? The government and CK Raut have their own interpretations on the matter. Why so?" he said. The leader argued that the government is making decisions without considering the people's mandate.
