KATHMANDU, Sept 20: The government organized a special function at Tudikhel in the heart of the capital to observe the Constitution Day also known as the National Day, marking the fourth anniversary of the promulgation of the historic constitution.
To mark the day, a special function was held at the Nepal Army pavilion in the heart of the Capital. President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, Prime KP Sharma Minister Oli, and Speaker of the House of Representatives Krishna Bahadur Mahara, National Assembly Chairman Ganesh Timalsina, senior government officials, security chiefs, lawmakers, leaders from various political parties, foreign diplomats and among others.
The function featured a march-past by security agencies including Nepal Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force. An aerial display of a banner reading ‘Constitution Day-2076’ and a flower dropping ceremony through helicopter were also the parts of the ceremony.

A cultural procession featuring traditional cultures of various ethnic communities was also held. To mark the fourth anniversary of the promulgation of the new constitution through the historic Constituent Assembly (CA), various programs are being held across the country.
Four years have passed since Nepal introduced its new constitution through the historic Constituent Assembly on Sept. 20, 2015.
The constitution is a progressive political document that has consolidated Nepal’s journey into federal republic. It has been taken as a historic document that has ensured the rights of all religion, women, Dalits, indigenous nationalities, ethnic minorities, and deprived groups.
The constitution brought marginalized communities into the political mainstream by upholding inclusion and proportional representation.
