Constitutional Bench issues show cause notice on constitutional appointments

KATHMANDU, March 24: The Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court has issued a show cause order in the name of the defendants in a case filed against the appointments to the constitutional bodies through an ordinance.

KATHMANDU, March 24: The Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court has issued a show cause order in the name of the defendants in a case filed against the appointments to the constitutional bodies through an ordinance. 


The constitutional bench of Acting Chief Justice Deepak Kumar Karki and judges—Mira Khadka, Hari Krishna Karki, Bishwombhar Prasad Shrestha and Ishowr Prasad Katiwada rejected giving an interim order as demanded by the petitioner but issued a show cause order instead.

The constitutional bench refused to give the interim order in a writ petition filed with a demand to scrap the appointment of 52 office-bearers at the Constitutional Commission made by the Constitutional Council during the term of then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. 


The hearing on the case started on Friday.
