KATHMANDU, April 19: The meeting of the Constitutional Council held on Wednesday to proceed with the appointment of new Chief Justice ended inconclusive.
The meeting could not take any decision although the discussion was held on the issue of appointing a new Chief Justice at the earliest.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Ganesh Prasad Timilsina said that the appointment of the Chief Justice was discussed in the meeting but no decision was made. He also said that the next meeting will decide on the appointment of the Chief Justice.
Speaker of the House of Representatives Devraj Ghimire, Chairman of the National Assembly Timilsina, Deputy Speaker Indira Rana, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense and Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Purna Bahadur Khadka and leader of the main opposition party in the House of Representatives (HoR) KP Sharma Oli participated in the meeting.
A meeting of the top leaders of three main parties held at Balkot, the private residence of UML Chairman Oli on April 17, had decided to hold a meeting of the Constitutional Council and recommend the appointment of a new Chief Justice.
