POKHARA, Oct 24: The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has selected the construction company for earthwork in Ritthepani hill and soil stabilization and other associated works at the east approach of Pokhara Regional International Airport. The Ritthepani hill is considered an obstruction in the operation of Pokhara Regional International Airport.
According to CAAN Director General Pradeep Adhikari, out of 10 companies who had applied for the project, M/S UMA/GALWA JV Construction Company has been selected to cut the Ritthepani hill.
Tender bidding will be finalized with the completion of the fiscal assessment.

“There are two stages in the tender process. A JV has been selected technically. The tender process will be finalized after the assessment of the financial proposal in a week. And, the cutting of the hill will begin after the tender process is confirmed,” Director General Adhikari said.
Issuing a press note on Sunday, the CAAN directed the eligible companies to submit their financial details within 15 days.
Chief of the Pokhara Regional International Airport Construction Project Binesh Munakarmi said that the soil and stone to be extracted from the earthwork in Ritthepani hill would be used to stabilize the existing landfill site of Pokhara Metropolitan City.
In the first phase, 14 meters of the hill would be cut for flight calibration at the airport.
