KATHMANDU, Dec 3: Continuous hearing on a case related to the murder of six people, including Nabaraj BK, three years ago in Soti village of Rukum Paschim over the issue of inter-caste marriage is set to begin at the Supreme Court (SC) from today.
The SC administration confirmed that the hearing on this case will commence today. Legal representatives from the government and the victims will present their arguments, with the court expected to deliver a verdict following the defendants’ statements.
Hearing on Adhikari's murder case begins
On May 23, 2020, when 20-years-0old BK of Ranagaun, Jajarkot, went to Soti village of Chaurjahari Municipality-8 in Rukum West to marry Sushma Malla, six people were chased and killed by the villagers resulting in 12 injuries. Their bodies were recovered later in the Bheri river.
A parliamentary committee was formed under the leadership of CPN (Maoist Center) MP Devendra Paudel to investigate the incident. The committee concluded that the incident was planned.
A case was filed against 34 individuals from Chaurjahari Municipality-8 Soti village in the District Court, Rukum West. The charges include murder, attempted homicide, and caste-based discrimination. Currently, 23 accused individuals are in jail awaiting trial, while 11 have been released on their own recognizance.
