Controversy over bills to be resolved through discussion with stakeholders: Minister Pun

KATHMANDU, Aug 12: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Barshaman Pun reiterated that all the controversy over bills including Media Council Bill presented to the federal parliament would be settled through extensive talks with concerned stakeholders.

KATHMANDU, Aug 12: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Barsha Man Pun reiterated that all the controversy over bills including Media Council Bill presented to the federal parliament would be settled through extensive talks with concerned stakeholders. 

 

Speaking at a program organized to mark the twentieth anniversary of the Federation of Nepalese Indigenous Journalists (FoNIJ) in the capital on Monday, Minister Pun clarified that the government will not be rigid enough to endorse the bills without forging consensus with stakeholders.

“The government is dedicated to principles of inclusive democracy, so popular choice will be duly addressed,” he added. 

 

He agreed that there may have some remains of the traditional political system. But the government is focused on institutionalizing inclusiveness as envisioned by the constitution, he stressed.
