KATHMANDU, Nov 19: The stand off seen at the Supreme Court is heading towards the resolution as agitating lawyers and Supreme Court justices are close to consensus to schedule cases through lottery system.
A full court meeting of the Supreme Court on Thursday decided to use the lottery system to schedule hearings, reviving the possibility of the SC dispute heading towards solution.
In the history of the court, the Chief Justice on a daily basis has been scheduling cases on his own till now. The decision of the full court meeting has taken away one of the discretionary powers of the Chief Justice.

There had been repeated disputes saying that the CJ would schedule hearings as per his/her wish. Earlier, the Supreme Court had decided to fix the hearings through an automation system but it could not be implemented.
The justices said that the demand for the dignified departure of Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher JB Rana remained. CJ Rana courted controversy after he was accused of asking for his share in the current coalition government.
As agitating lawmakers boycotted cases scheduled by CJ Rana, the apex court has decided to implement a lottery system.
A full court meeting of 18 justices, who have been boycotting the hearings demanding the resignation of Chief Justice Rana, has made necessary amendments and modifications in the rules and regulations to determine the hearings for justices. According to the Supreme Court administration, the meeting decided to amend the directives and rules.
