KATHMANDU, Oct 27: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, who is also the president of the ruling Nepali Congress(NC), has refused to make any comments on the ongoing controversy surrounding Chief Justice Cholendra SJB Rana.
PM Deuba has also vented anger against CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli for making irresponsible remarks against the judiciary and justices. The main opposition party leader had earlier sought the resignation of all five justices who issued the mandamus to appoint NC President Deuba as the new prime minister of the country, while also reinstating the dissolved parliament.

Addressing a function organized by the party’s sister organization at his official residence in Baluwatar on Wednesday, Prime Minister Deuba said that he will discuss the question raised on the judiciary with the coalition partners and act accordingly. He, however, clarified that he is not in favor of the impeachment of any justices including Chief Justice Rana.
Arguing that the judiciary is capable of resolving the problems seen in the judiciary on its own, Prime Minister Deuba said that the problems seen in the judiciary belong to the court itself. “I don't think it is responsible to say that everyone who helps maintain law and order should be removed from their posts. I don't have anything else to say. The coalition government will hold discussions on the questions raised over the judiciary,” he said.
“I have told everyone before as well. [ Gajendra] Hamal is a leader of the Nepali Congress. He resigned after questions were raised over his appointment as a minister. This issue has already been settled. But this has been deliberately raised time and again. We do not have much to say in the case of the judiciary. Whatever the court does, it is its own matter,” PM Deuba said.
