However, the quantity has not been announced yet, according to the Family Welfare Division under the Department of Health Service.

“COVAX is providing us the vaccines but the quantity has not been announced yet,” said Dr Taranath Pokrel, chief of the division.

Nepal is facing a challenge to administer the second dose of the Covishield vaccine to elderlies who received their first dose of the India-manufactured Covishield vaccine earlier.

Nepal is doing its best to procure vaccines and inoculate its citizens. The country is yet to receive 1 million doses of the Covishield vaccine from the Serum Institute of India. The United States of America has also announced plans to provide COVID-19 vaccines to Nepal.
