COVID-19 death toll in Mahottari reaches four as two men succumbed to coronavirus on Tuesday

MAHOTTARI, Aug 25: Two men succumbed to novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Mahottari district on Tuesday.


A 77-year-old man from Manarashiwa Municipality-7 and another 78-year-old man from Balawa Municipality-3 who earlier tested positive for coronavirus died while undergoing treatment.

According to Girendra Kumar Jha, the COVID-19 focal person at the Mahottari District Public Health Office, the first patient died as soon as he was brought to Jaleshwar Hospital for treatment. He had undergone treatment at Bharatpur Hospital and returned home recently. The man was also a cancer patient.


The second patient who tested positive for the virus on August 22 was undergoing treatment at the COVID-19 Provincial Hospital in Janakpur.  He was brought to the hospital on Monday for treatment. He was on ventilator support until before his death.


With the latest two coronavirus-linked deaths, the COVID-19 death toll in Mahottari has reached four.
