COVID-19 infection rate stands at 41.5 percent

KATHMANDU, Jan 27: In the last 24 hours, the COVID-19 infection rate in Nepal stood at 41.5 percent. The infection rate is 5 percentage points lower than the previous day. Of the total 20,359 samples tested in the last 24 hours, 8,454 were confirmed to be infected with COVID-19.

KATHMANDU, Jan 27: In the last 24 hours, the COVID-19 infection rate in Nepal stood at 41.5 percent. The infection rate is 5 percentage points lower than the previous day. Of the total 20,359 samples tested in the last 24 hours, 8,454 were confirmed to be infected with COVID-19.


Five more people died from COVID-19 infection in the last 24 hours, taking the number of deaths from COVID-19 in Nepal to 11,672. At present, there are 90,067 active cases in Nepal. Of them, 88,248 are being treated in home isolation, 1,819 in institutional isolation and 251 in ICU and 48 on ventilators.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, deaths, hospital admissions, ICU admissions and ventilator admissions dropped by five percent in the third wave compared to the second wave in the COVID-19 pandemic. During a regular press briefing on Wednesday, the director of the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division, Dr Krishna Prasad Poudel said, "Even though the hospital admission rate is low, we should not stop being alert."


Children to be vaccinated in schools


The Ministry of Health and Population has stated that it will continue the vaccination campaign by opening schools for the children who missed the shots. The ministry has stated that the schools will be open only for the vaccination campaign until further notice.
