COVID-19 patient escapes from Bharatpur Hospital

DHADING, Aug 25: A COVID-19 patient undergoing treatment at the Chitwan-based Bharatpur Hospital escaped from the hospital on Tuesday morning.

DHADING, Aug 25: A COVID-19 patient undergoing treatment at the Chitwan-based Bharatpur Hospital escaped from the hospital on Tuesday morning.


A 19 years old youth from Bharatpur Metropolitan City-12 ran away from the hospital, according to the District Police Office, Chitwan.


The escaped youth was undergoing treatment at the hospital since August 22.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Surya Bahadur Thapa, the youth was arrested by the police a week ago on the charge of robbery and had tested positive for novel coronavirus in the course of investigation. “He was then taken to Bharatpur Hospital for treatment.”


The District Police Office has already deployed a search team to find the whereabouts of the youth.


17 more test positive for COVID-19 in Chitwan


Similarly, 17 new cases of COVID-19 were detected in Chitwan on Monday night.


COVID-19 tests conducted at the COVID-19 Laboratory in Bharatpur Hospital confirmed 15 new cases from Chitwan and one each from Makwanpur and East Nawalparasi districts.


As many as 405 swab samples were tested for COVID-19. Of them, 388 came out to be negative.
