SURKHET, April 2: The COVID-19 test lab has come into operation in Surkhet from today.
The testing process has begun in the Provincial Hospital after the Ministry of Health and Population provided testing machine, kits and necessary human resources.
According to hospital director Dr Dambar Khadka, the swab would be collected from the suspected ones of coronavirus and tested in the lab. He added that all the preparations for the lab test has completed and will come into operation today itself.

The Ministry has assigned National Public Health Laboratory’s specialist, Dr Ram Krishna Shrestha, as the expert technologist for the purpose. Shrestha would impart training to lab technicians staying here for about a week.
COVID-19 test starting from Hetauda from today: CM Poudel
Meanwhile, Bagmati Province Chief Minister, Dormani Poudel, has said the tests for COVID-19 will start in the provincial capital, Hetauda, itself from today. CM Poudel said all preparations for the same have been completed at the Vector-Borne Diseases Research and Training Centre's laboratory.
According to him, all the equipment and human resources required for the lab have arrived in Hetauda. The task of installing the machines at the lab has also been completed The lab can conduct tests on maximum of 75 samples a day.
He also thanked the doctors, health workers, health technicians, security personnel and employees of various government bodies who are working day and night in the prevention and control of COVID-19. Chief Minister Poudel also urged the people to be alert in this time of crisis.
