KATHMANDU, Sept 20: The CPN-UML-aligned Nepal Civil Servants Employees Association has formally split after 31 years of its establishment.
Government employees close to the CPN (Unified Socialist) led by Madhav Nepal have split the CPN-UML-aligned Nepal Civil Servants Employees Association and formed a new Employees Association.

However, both sides have kept the name of the organization the same. Both sides have claimed that the organization has not split and one has taken action against the other. Both have claimed that the name of the organization is Nepal Civil Servants Employees Association.
Both sides have elected separate leaders as the president of the official employees association. During the election of the official Trade Union in June 2016, the Nepal Civil Servants Employees Association aligned with the CPN-UML got the highest number of votes, and got the post of president.
Employees close to CPN-UML Chairperson KP Oli have recalled Bhola Pokhrel and recommended Kedar Devkota as the new president to replace Pokhrel.
Employees close to Madhav Nepal have announced the removal of 10 employee leaders from the organization, including President Kedar Devkota, and Senior Vice President Lekhnath Koirala. Rewant Gautam has been named as the president in place of Devkota. Gautam was previously the General Secretary of the Nepal Civil Servants Association.
