KATHMANDU, August 24: The CPN-UML has decided to hold its 10th General Convention in the last week of November.


A Standing Committee meeting of the party held on Tuesday took a decision to hold the 10th General Convention from November 26 to 28, according to the party's Spokesperson Pradeep Gyawali.

The meeting was participated by the leaders, who did not choose to be part of the Madhav Kumar Nepal-led new party, and the former Maoist Center leaders deciding to stay with the UML after the Supreme Court verdict invalidated the unity between the UML and the CPN (Maoist Center.


Earlier, the UML had decided to hold the convention from November 20 to 22.


The UML Standing Committee meeting on Tuesday also decided to implement the 10-point agreement prepared earlier by the Task Force in letter and spirit and revive the party structure prior to the unification between the UML and the Maoist Center.


The meeting has formed a seven-member Task Force to nominate 10 percent central members and give full shape to the party's various departments. The Task Force includes Vice Chairman Bhim Rawal, General Secretary Ishwar Pokharel, Deputy General Secretaries duos Bishnu Prasad Poudel and Ghanashyam Bhusal and Standing Committee members Surendra Pandey and Lekha Raj Bhatta.
