KATHMANDU, Sept 21: The main opposition party CPN-UML has demanded the resignation of Agni Sapkota from the post of Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR).
Speaking at the second meeting of the National Assembly (NA) on Tuesday, lawmaker Bhairav Sundar Shrestha demanded the resignation of Speaker Sapkota for not fulfilling his duties properly. Chairman of the upper house, Ganesh Prasad Timilsina had permitted Shrestha to speak after lawmakers of the CPN-UML started protesting right from the start of the meeting.
Outgoing deputy speaker questions ‘inclusive representation’
Lawmaker Shrestha accused Speaker Sapkota of not fulfilling his duties by not removing the 14 lawmakers from their posts against whom the CPN-UML had requested the Speaker to take action.
Shrestha said that the party will not let the meeting of the National Assembly to run properly if the 14 lawmakers and Speaker Sapkota are not removed from their posts.
