KATHMANDU, August 27: The CPN-UML is seeking legal redressal against the Election Commission for making a controversial decision while registering the CPN (Unified Socialist).

The UML Secretary Pradip Gyawali informed that the Central Committee has decided to go to court against the controversial decision taken by the commission during the registration of the new party formed after splitting from the CPN-UML.

“Controversial decisions have been made by the Election Commission. The party had notified the EC about the action taken against some party members. Notwithstanding that the EC let them in the verification process. Our party has decided to take legal action against it,” Gyawali said after the meeting of the Central Committee held on Thursday.

According to Gyawali, the CPN-UML has objected to the Speaker's failure to publish the party's decision to take action against the lawmakers. Gyawali said that they would move ahead against the speaker's move as per parliamentary practice. The meeting has also decided to seek legal redressal on the issue of local level officials joining the party within 21 days.

The meeting has decided to implement the 10-point agreement soon to resolve the disputes seen within the party. Ishwar Pokharel, Bishnu Poudel and Gokarna Bista and Top Bahadur Rayamajhi have been entrusted with the responsibility to implement the 10-point agreement. "If problems arise in implementing the 10-point agreement in all sister organizations, the same task force will solve the problems," said Secretary Gyawali.
