Dahal meets Modi in Delhi

KATHMANDU, Sept 9: Former Prime Minister and chairman of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal held bilateral meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Saturday.

KATHMANDU, Sept 9: Former Prime Minister and chairman of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal held bilateral meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Saturday.


According to the secretariat of Modi, the two leaders discussed about progress in Nepal-India relations and other issues of mutual interest.

Recalling his two visits to Nepal this year, the Indian prime minister wrote in his personal website that India-Nepal relations have received a boost with frequent high-level interactions.


Dahal and Modi recalled their recent meeting during the latter's visit to Nepal and Modi extended gratitude to Dahal for his valuable contributions in strengthening India-Nepal relations, according to a statement issued by the secretariat.


Dahal also called on former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj on Saturday. According to spokesperson of the Indian external affairs ministry, both leaders 'exchanged views on advancing bilateral ties between the two countries'.


Dahal also held interaction with journalists in Delhi about Nepal-India relations and said that Nepal wants to maintain balanced relations with both India and China. Dahal is scheduled to return Kathmandu on Sunday, concluding his three-day India visit.
