KATHMANDU, Dec 22: Chairman of CPN (Maoist Center) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has been unanimously elected as the Parliamentary Party (PP) leader of the Maoist Center.
A PP meeting of the Maoist Center held on Thursday unanimously picked Chairman Dahal as the PP leader. The PP leader automatically becomes a candidate for the post of prime minister on behalf of the party concerned.
Directly elected executive system the only solution
The election of Dahal as PP leader comes amid preparations of Nepali Congress and Maoist Center to form a new government. Chairman Dahal has staked claim for the government leadership for the first half of the five-year term of the new parliament. NC President Deuba has reportedly given positive indication to Dahal’s demand.
