DANG, June 17: At least 5,657 people from Dang suffer from cataract, according to a study by Nepal Netra Jyoti Sangh, Rapti.

Rapti Eye Hospital has launched a project in cooperation with local levels to eliminate the disease by 2020. 


Under the project, a search will be launched for cataract patients and a free surgery will be conducted, Shamsher Thapa, senior administrative officer at the hospital said. It requires at least Rs 8,000 to conduct a surgery on a cataract patient, and 60 percent of the cost will be borne by local levels and 40 percent by the hospital.
