KHOTANG, Oct 17: With the parliamentary and provincial elections just around the corner, the District Administration Office (DAO), Khotang has announced to take stern action against those printing, distributing and selling clothes and materials with election symbols of various political parties.
The distribution of materials by political parties in course of their poll promotional campaigns have been banned in the district with the aim of creating a free and fair environment for the elections. The decision was taken by a meeting chaired by Chief District Officer Ekdev Adhikari in view of the elections scheduled for November 26 and December 7.

Poll candidates have been found distributing various materials which contain their party's symbols to the public, which is against the election laws. On September 19, the EC had sent a letter to the DAO urging to ban the distribution of election materials promoting any political party. In the recently held local elections, parties were found violating the election code of conduct.
So, in order to not let such incident from happening again, the EC has announced to take actions against the candidates and political parties as well as leaders who go against the laws. Following the directive from the DAO, political parties and candidates have agreed to do everything as per the rules.
