KATHMANDU, Nov 21: The District Administration Office (DAO), Kathmandu, has designated the Balku area for the Durga Prasain group for their demonstration scheduled for November 23. Kathmandu’s Assistant Chief District Officer Rabindra Prasad Acharya conveyed the designation of the Balkhu area to the Durga Prasain group.

Previously, the DAO had assigned the Tinkune area to Yuwa Sangh Nepal, an organization affiliated with CPN-UML. Both Yuwa Sangh and the Durga Prasai-led ‘Mega Campaign to Save Nation, Nationality, Religion, Culture, and Citizens’ had separately announced their intention to hold a demonstration at Maitighar Mandala on November 23. However, the DAO informed both parties that they would not be allowed to hold the program at Maitighar and suggested an alternative location.

Yuwa Sangh has declared its program as a protest against price hikes, corruption, caste harmony, and any form of anarchy, while Prasain characterizes his ‘civil liberation movement’ as one to displace the present system of federal democratic republic.

In view of these developments, the Kathmandu DAO has designated the area from Maitighar Mandala to New Baneshwor a prohibited zone for a month.
