Death toll in Upper Mustang tipper mishap climbs to 15; 14 injured

POKHARA, July 6: The death toll in Upper Mustang tipper accident has reached 15, while 14 others have sustainedinjuries.


The deceased have been identified as Bal Kumar Gharti, 30, of Dang, Sukman Rokka, 28 of Rolpa, Driver Sujan Ghalan, 23 of Dhading, Jivan Majhi, 20 of Sindhuli, Binti Gharti, 22, of Kailali, Mahesh Rokka, 19 of Rolpa, Kamal Singh Rokka, 35, of Kapilvastu, Kabita Gharti Magar, 31, of Dang, Ram Kumar Pun, 32, of Rolpa, Suber Chaudhary, 35 of Dang, Binita Gharti, 23, of Kailali, Shanti Thapa, 43, of Dang, Sontu Gharti, 32, of Rolpa, Krishna Chhetri, 24, of Syangja,  and Kamal Budha of Dang.

The accident took place when the tipper was carrying construction workers back to their construction site after taking brunch fell some 50 meters down the muddy rough road at Lhoghyakar in Damodarkunda rural municipality-3 after it lost balance around 1:30 pm todday. 


" A tipper, Ba 2 Ka 2219, with construction workers on board, met with an accident after it lost balance on the rough hilly road in Lhoghyakar in Damodarkunda rural municipality-3 at 1:30 pm today," said Chief District Officer of  Shishir Paudel of Mustang District. 


The tipper has fallen 50 meters down the muddy road into a gorge. An air dynasty  helicopter has been deployed in the incident site and the rescue work is underway, according to CDO Paudel.
