MUMBAI
Deepika Padukone has everyone buzzing about her latest release 'Gehraiyaan'. In the film, the actress plays a flawed character who cheats on her partner of 6-years, with her cousin's fiance.
When asked in a recent interview about her personal notions about cheating on her partner and if it is 'still a big deal' in her relationship, the actress not only spoke her heart, but also revealed the one thing that was even more 'hurtful'.
In an interview with We Are Yuvaa, the 'Gehraiyaan' stars said, “It’s something that I personally don’t endorse. But having said that, I don’t think I am anyone to judge someone else’s relationship, whether it has happened or not happened, or whether they are okay with it or not okay with it. Relationships are truly based on connections and when you have lost that connection in itself, then there is no relationship.”
She went on to add, “Whereas, sometimes maybe the physical attraction is still sort of a passing thing. I think as long as you have respect for the other person, I think that’s really important."
The actress also revealed what she thought was more hurtful than cheating or having an affair. Deepika said, "I mean, monogamy, physical attraction, is one thing but I would be far more disappointed if there was emotional infidelity. Not to say that physical infidelity is okay but emotional infidelity is far more hurtful than anything else."
Back in the day, Deepika made headlines when she revealed that she had been cheated on by an ex-boyfriend and how he 'begged and pleaded for forgiveness. However, even after giving him a second chance, she caught him ‘red-handed’.
In an interview with Filmfare, Deepika even revealed that her failed relationships gave her serious trust issues when she first met Ranveer Singh, who she went on to marry.
"When I met Ranveer, I was exhausted. When this relationship, which I was in ended in 2012, I was like I’m done. I wanted to try out this concept of casual dating. I just did not want to be answerable to anyone. When Ranveer and I met in 2012, I told him, ‘I realize there’s a connection between us. I really like you but I want to keep it open. I don’t want to commit. If I get attracted to different people I’m going to do my thing'," Deepika said to the magazine.
Deepika met Ranveer on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Ram Leela'. The couple dated under the radar for about 6 years before they got hitched in 2018.
