KATHMANDU, Sept 18: The Janata Samajbadi party (JSP) will not be taking part in the Constitution Day celebrations on Sunday, while the newly-formed Democratic Socialist Party led by Mahanth Thakur has decided to mark the day as a black day.
“We will not celebrate the Constitution Day on September 19 nor will we take any part in it,” a leader of JSP, Bijay Yadav said. “We will stay indifferent on the day,” he added.

Similarly, Keshav Jha, a leader of the Democratic Socialist Party said the party is preparing to mark September 19 as a ‘black day’. He informed Republica that protests will be held across the country on the day.
The Constitution Day which is held on Ashoj 3 (September 19 this year) has been a problematic topic for the past few years for the parties of Terai-Madesh. They are not sure whether to observe the day as a ‘black day’ or not. Prior to the split in the JSP, a serious division arose within the party regarding the Constitution Day last year.
