DANG, Dec 17: The relatives of two teenagers who died in a tipper-hit have staged a demonstration by obstructing the road in Dang.
The demonstration started on Sunday morning after the two young boys died in the tipper-hit on Friday night at Jharbaira Chowk in Narayanpur along the Ghorahi-Tulsipur road section.
After the relatives of the deceased and locals started protesting blocking the road, the police detained some relatives of the deceased.
Three arrested for honey trapping
The families of the deceased have called for a Dang shutdown on Sunday, saying that they will not receive the body until proper compensation is arranged and action is taken against the tipper driver.
Meanwhile, the police arrested Pramod Pokhrel, vice chairman of Jhimruk Rural Municipality of Pyuthan, Man Bahadur KC, ward chairman of Naubahini Rural Municipality-6, and Rajesh GC, the brother and uncle of the two deceased youths after they tried to block the road.
Negotiations between tipper businessmen and the aggrieved parties had taken place throughout Saturday. Following unsuccessful discussions, the aggrieved party issued a warning that the Ghorahi-Tulsipur road section would be blocked.
The victims were identified as 17-year-old Bishal GC, a resident of Jhimruk Rural Municipality-4 in Bange, Pyuthan, and 18-year-old Sagar KC from Naubahini Rural Municipality-6 in Lung. The fatal accident occurred when a tipper with registration number RA 1 KA 1307 collided with a motorcycle bearing registration RA 2 PA 5589, which was heading in the opposite direction.
