Departmental teams into Speaker’s Cup quarters

ROLPA, Maay 14: The departmental teams along with Province 3 and Province 4 teams have advanced into the quarterfinals of the ongoing first Speaker’s Cup National Men’s and Women’s Volleyball Tournament being played in Liwang, Rolpa, on Sunday.

ROLPA, Maay 14: The departmental teams along with Province 3 and Province 4 teams have advanced into the quarterfinals of the ongoing first Speaker’s Cup National Men’s and Women’s Volleyball Tournament being played in Liwang, Rolpa, on Sunday. 


Under the women’s category, the departmental teams -- Armed Police Force, Tribhuvan Army Club, Nepal Police Club -- and Province 3 reached the quarters winning their last league games.

Armed Police reached the last eight as the group A winner beating Army 25-13, 25-11, 25-11 on straight sets and will face Province 6. In the second match, Army saw off Province 4 with 25-12, 25-8, 20-25, 25-12 to reach the quarters and will take on Group C winner Province 2. In the other matches of the same category, Police overcame Province 3 with 25-7, 25-10, 25-8 and reached the quarters as Group D winner. It will face the runner-up of Group B. 


Likewise, in the men’s category, Army will take on Province 2, Armed Police will face Province 5, Police will play against Province 6 and Province 4 will vie against Province 1. 


In the last league games, Army defeated Province 5 with 29-27, 25-17, 25-15 and Province 5 saw off Province 3 with 25-14, 25-18, 23-25, 25-19 to reach the quarters. Likewise, in the other matches of the same category, Police beat Province 4 with 25-23, 25-16, 25-18, while Province 4 thumped Province 7 with 25-14, 25-16, 25-14 to reach the last eight.
