KATHMANDU, March 12: The departmental team Armed Police Force’s pair of Dipesh Dhami and Puja Shrestha has advanced into the round of 16 in the ongoing fourth nationwide Krishna Mohan Memorial Open Badminton Tournament in the mixed doubles category with a win on Sunday.
At the badminton court in Halchowk, Shrestha and Dhami beat Jestha Badminton Academy’s Tara Ale and Suman Limbu 21-17, 21-6.
In the other match of the same category, Bhojpur’s Seeta Rai and Bikash Shrestha defeated Armed Police’s Sikhshya Shrestha and Sajan Krishna Tamrakar 21-18, 21-13 to make it to the round of 16.

Likewise, in women’s singles, the other departmental team Tribhuvan Army Club’s Nangsal Devi Tamang has also booked her place in the last 16 with a 21-7, 21-8 set win over Jestha’s Mahima Shrestha.
Also, Jhapa’s Sunaina Mukhiya saw off Jestha’s Tara Ale 21-9, 21-8, while Army’s Amita Giri entered the next round on walkover rule.
Also, Army’s Anu Maya Rai overcame Bhojpur’s Seeta Rai 23-21, 21-8, Armed Police’s Shobha Gauchan thumped Kanchanpur’s Ranjana Bhatta 21-16, 21-8.
Also, in the same category, Army’s Rasiyal Maharjan beat Kaski’s Punam Gurung 21-12, 21-15, Chitwan’s Sikhshya Shrestha defeated Jestha’s Manisha Khadka 21-6, 21-6, Jhapa’s Jessica Gurung saw off Morang’s Nita Lamsal 21-6, 25-23.
All the winners reached the last 16.
Similarly, in the U-17 boys’ age category, NIC’s Sanjeev Bhandari defeated Kapilvastu’s Abhaya Mahara 21-13, 21-9, while Manish Thapa beat Aman Maharjan 21-14, 23-25, 21-15 to reach the round of 16.
Samir Basuk also reached the last 16 due to walkover of Nischal Burlakoti.
