Dilasaini Rural Municipality in Baitadi enforces lockdown to curb spread of COVID-19

BAITADI, Dec 2: Amid growing cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), Dilasaini Rural Municipality in Baitadi district has enforced a lockdown for 11 days starting Wednesday.


Chief Administrative Officer of the rural municipality Pankha Bahadur Shah said that the lockdown has been imposed in the rural municipality after six new cases of COVID-19 were detected in the municipality.


While long and short distance public transportation services have been suspended, all services except the emergency ones provided by the rural municipality and the seven wards under it will not be available until December 11, according to Shah.

Likewise, all schools across the rural municipality will remain closed and programs that require large gatherings of people have been banned. However, grocery shops and shops selling daily essentials will open from 8am to 9am, while the banks and financial institutions within the rural municipality will remain closed except for Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday.


Health facilities including the ambulance services would be operational. Officials suspect that the COVID-19 infection has already spread at the community level in Dilasaini Rural Municipality in recent days.


Meanwhile, Dashrath Chand Municipality in the district has also enforced a lockdown till December 7 in view of the rising cases of COVID-19 cases. As of Wednesday, the district has reported 568 cases of COVID-19 and one fatality due to COVID-19.


A total of 499 persons, who earlier tested positive for COVID-19, have recovered successfully. Currently, there are 68 active cases of COVID-19 across the district, officials said.
