She was later brought to Kathmandu for further treatment on Tuesday as her condition did not see any improvement during treatment at Gandak Hospital in the district. Doctors announced her deth at TU Teaching Hospital on Friday afternoon, according to the relatives of the deceased.

Her body was full of bruises as Dr Yadav was found using heated iron rod, electric shock and wire to torture her in inhumane manner. Police have arrested Dr Yadav following complaints from relatives of the victim. But relatives have vented ire for taking the accused to hospital instead of putting him in the custody for investigation.

Relatives have claimed that deceased Sunita had been routinely facing torture from her husband for the last 16 years after her parents failed to give a car in dowry as demanded by their son-in-law after he became a doctor.

The accused had married a second woman after parents of Sunita failed to gift him a car and money for building a clinic. Earlier, he had committed in writing not to torture Sunita at the District Administration Office (DAO) following complaints of torture from Sunita.
