DoFE halts operation of 584 manpower companies for false promises to youths

KATHMANDU, July 11: The Department of Foreign Employment (DoFE) has prevented 584 manpower companies from engaging in sending workers abroad for employment.

KATHMANDU, July 11: The Department of Foreign Employment (DoFE) has prevented 584 manpower companies from engaging in sending workers abroad for employment.


The DoFE has issued a notice stating that 584 manpower companies that were previously registered with the DoFE have been prevented from conducting their businesses.

The companies whose business registrations have been suspended by the DoFE will not be permitted to send workers abroad until the suspension is lifted.


Guru Datta Subedi, director and spokesperson for the DoFE, said that these manpower companies, whose businesses have been halted, have been operating for one and a half decades.


According to Subedi, this notice has been issued to raise awareness, following reports that these manpower agencies have been sending youths abroad under false promises.
