KHOTANG, Dec. 7: Former Prime Minister and Chief of Naya Shakti Party, Nepal Dr Baburam Bhattarai has asked the representatives of local governments to do away with corruption.
Reason to worry
Addressing the special municipality assembly of Halesi Tuwachung Municipality of Khotang district on Thursday, Dr Bhattarai said that corruption instead of Singhadurbar's rights is learnt to have become pervasive in local government. It would be a blunder if anti-federalist forces could rise because of people's representatives' weaknesses.
He also said that the local governments were facing legal hassles in their operation for lack a clear legal provision adding that such laws could not be formulated prior to the elections due to the anti-federalist forces. Also on Wednesday, the former PM visited Tuwachung, the origin of Kirat community. RSS
