KATHMANDU, May 9: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Dr Tosima Karki has accused big political parties of protecting the culprits of the fake Bhutanese refugee scam. At the zero hour of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, Karki insisted that even when arrest warrants were issued against the leaders, they were trying to protect them.
Stating that the parliamentarians have submitted their property details to the Federal Parliament Secretariat, she has also demanded that it be made public through the website. Dr Karki said that the details of non-payment of property tax should also be made public.
For a PAWsitive future
A few days ago, in the meeting of the House of Representatives, Nepali Congress MP Dr Arzu Rana Deuba also challenged to make public the property details of all MPs. She claimed that she had not made any mistake and that she was not afraid that she was also questioned.
Pointing to Deuba's complaint of violence against women while demanding an investigation into the fraud case of turning Nepali citizens into Bhutanese refugees and sending them abroad, Dr Karki questioned how gender could be linked to corruption.
Hinting at Dr Deuba, Dr Karki said, “When asked for an investigation into the audio tape, an honorable MP said that it is anti-feminist and violence against women. I need an answer- how is gender connected to corruption?”
Dr Karki further said, 'It is not only corruption; national identity has been changed here. A crime has been committed. Action should be taken against this.”
