KATHMANDU, May 30: After the ruling parties withdrew the impeachment motion filed against Chief Justice Sushila Karki in parliament, Dr Govinda KC, a professor at the Institute of Medicine (IOM), has rescheduled his hunger strike. Now Dr KC Will go for a fast-unto-death from the coming Friday.
Dr KC was to start his hunger strike in Dang district from May 29. But he postponed it till Friday after the impeachment motion was withdrawn, said Dr Jivan Kshetry, a lead campaigner expressing solidarity with Dr KC's movement against anarchy in the medical sector.

Dr KC, a senior orthopedic surgeon at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, gave his ultimatum on May 23 for three days and decided to stage his 11th fast-unto-death from May 27. However, KC again postponed his strike till Monday after Health Minister Gagan Thapa urged him not to go for the strike, claiming that the government would address his demands.
The six-day ultimatum issued on May 17 to the government to address his two-point demands including the withdrawal of the impeachment motion against the Chief Justice and implement the past agreements including bringing the proposed Medical Education Act within six days.
Dr KC had staged his 10th fast-unto-death from November 13 against 'the anarchy prevailing in the medical education sector'. Dr KC ended his 10th hunger strike following a 12-point agreement with the government representatives on December 4.
The agreement includes bringing Medical Education Act, implementing past agreements, stopping issuing affiliation to private medical colleges before new rule, ending commercialization in medical education, forming a panel to probe irregularities in the medical sector, opening a government medical college in each province, and taking action against Tribhuvan University officials 'who have resorted to spoiling medical education.'
