Dr KC warns of refusing talks unless govt apologizes

KATHMANDU, Nov 26: Dr Govinda KC has warned of not sitting for talks with the government unless it apologizes.

KATHMANDU, Nov 26:  Dr Govinda KC has warned of not sitting for talks with the government unless  it apologizes. 



KC warned of refusing talks after police arrested his 31 supporters approaching the house of Tribhuvan University (TU) Vice Chancellor Tirtha Khaniya demanding his resignation.



“The government resorted to hooliganism in a peaceful protest,” Dr KC told Republica Online, “There is no relevance for the talks unless the government apologizes.”



Earlier today, the government talks team met Dr KC, a senior orthopedic surgeon at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH), regarding his demands.



Dr KC had told the team that he was not in a condition to hold talks, adding that he will form a committee soon. 



The government talks team comprises of Health Secretary Senendra Raj Upreti and Education Secretary Shanta Bahadur Shrestha.



Dr KC, a senior professor at the Institute of Medicine (IoM), is on a prolonged hunger strike since last 14 days putting forth six-point demands including appointment of dean at IoM on the basis of seniority.
