RAMECHHAP, June 24: An ambulance met with an accident in Kunauri of Manthali-6 in Ramechhap on Sunday killing the driver and leaving another person critically injured.
The deceased has been identified as Nir Bahadur Shrestha, 22, of Golanjor Rural Municipality-7. He died on the spot. It has been learnt that the ambulance was heading toward the district headquarters Manthali to pick a patient. Unfortunately, the ill-fated ambulance (Ba 21 Cha 7525) skidded off the road in a bend near Kunauri along the Khurkot-Manthali road section and plunged down the road. The accident occurred at around midnight.
Tractor driver dies in road accident
The vehicle fell some 100 meters below the road. Suraj Shrestha, 18, of Golanjor-7 has sustained critical injuries in the accident. The injured was immediately rescued by police and taken to Tamakoshi Hospital. Later, he was transferred to Dhulikhel for further treatment, according to Shekh Adalat, Police
Inspector at the District Police Office (DPO), Ramechhap.
As per the speculation of police, the ambulance must have met with the accident as it was dark and the driver may not have any idea about the turning. As the driver was new, he may have gone straight down the hill as he must have been unaware about the turning, say police.
Police have expedited investigation to find out the reason behind the accident. The road where the accident occurred is learnt to be prone to accidents.
