Drug addiction on the rise in younger generation: Home Minister Khand

KATHMANDU, June 26: Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand has said that drug addiction is emerging as a challenge in Nepal.

KATHMANDU, June 26: Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand has said that drug addiction is emerging as a challenge in Nepal.


Minister Khand said so while addressing a program organized on the occasion of the Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking in Kathmandu on Sunday. The minister said that drug addiction has adversely affected society and has a greater impact on the younger generation. He said that it is the responsibility of both the government and society to save the younger generation from drug addiction.

Minister Khand said that the government is sensitive about reducing drug addiction. He emphasized on the government’s responsibility to conduct awareness programs, include the subject in textbooks to educate the students at the right age and launch campaigns to improve the youths involved in drug addiction for a beautiful future for the younger generation.
