KATHMANDU, March 8: Shambhu Thapa, the coordinator of controversial medical entrepreneur Durga Prasai's 'black soot squad', has been arrested from Bharatpur. Thapa threatened to smear black soot on the heads of banks and financial institutions.
According to the police officials of District Police Office Chitwan, Thapa was arrested on Tuesday afternoon from the premises of District Administration Office Chitwan. He has been taken into custody for interrogation and investigation.

Thapa was announced as the Central Coordinator of the ‘black soot squad’ at a program held by Durga Prasai in Chitwan on February 25. Thapa, who became the coordinator, announced that the heads of banks and financial institutions would be smeared black soot.
Police officials said that after Thapa threatened to smear black soot, it created a kind of panic in the banking and financial sector. Heads of banks and financial institutions went to the district administration office and asked for Thapa’s arrest.
Preparations are being made to register a case of indecent behavior against him.
